A Voice for Every Child: How AAC Technology Changes Lives
A Voice for Every Child: How AAC Technology Changes Lives

When a child discovers their voice — in whatever form it takes — the world opens up in extraordinary ways.

At Every Little Blessing Preschool, we believe communication is at the heart of inclusion. For some of our students, that means learning to use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices — tools that help them express their needs, feelings, and ideas through technology.

Thanks to a generous $10,000 grant from the Mount Franklin Kiwanis, more of our children now have the opportunity to experience that joy. These devices, which use speech output communication apps, allow students to share everyday moments — like saying “snack time,” “lunch,” or “water” — with confidence and connection.

💡 How to Support AAC Learners AAC devices may look like tablets or small computers, but to our children, they are their voices. Here are three simple ways we can all help make communication more inclusive:

Be patient: Give a child 15–20 seconds to respond.

Ask open-ended questions: Keep the conversation flowing.

Celebrate effort: Every attempt at connection builds confidence.

When we listen with empathy, we remind every child that their words, gestures, and smiles matter.

🤝 Community Partners Make Miracles Happen

Mount Franklin Kiwanis: Funding AAC devices for our classrooms

Dr. John & Lyn McKee: Supporting learning experiences like field trips

Our Monthly Donors: Stephanie, Julie & Tim, and Sara Jane & Tim — helping classrooms thrive

Your support makes inclusion real. Together, we’re creating a community where every child is heard and valued.

🕊️ Every Little Blessing Deserves to Be Heard Every day at Every Little Blessing, children discover new ways to express themselves — through signs, words, art, or the tap of a button.

Each milestone reminds us that communication is connection, and connection changes everything.

Together, we’re giving every little blessing the chance to be understood — one voice at a time.
